The Loop of Life

Among the many items I found when I moved my office from my now-former radio stations to my home in August, was one I had pulled from the Church of the Nazarene publication “Holiness Today” dated January 2001.

Author Jon Johnson talked about the fact the more things change, the more they stay the same.   He added that we like to think of ourselves as innovators when in reality, we ride on the shoulders of those who preceded us.

He quoted Solomon who wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:9:  “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”

Johnson then quoted an article he had found called “All I Need to Know I Learned from Noah’s Ark.”   That article offered 10 simple lessons to live our lives:

1. Don’t miss the boat; and remember we’re all in the same one.

2. Plan ahead.   It wasn’t raining while Noah built the ark.

3. Stay fit (something I continue to struggle with as I get older).   When you’re 600 as Noah was, someone may ask you to do something really big.

4. Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

5. Build your future on high ground.

6. For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.

7. Speed isn’t always an advantage—snails were on-board with the cheetahs.

8. When you’re stressed, float awhile.

9. Remember the ark was bult by amateurs, the Titanic by professionals.

10. No matter what the storm, when we’re with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

Some great advice for us as we live our lives for Him today.  Win the Day today with Christ!
